  • Whole star anise
  • Cinnamon sticks

How to make:

  • To stabilize the apple, thinly cut the bottom of the apple

3. The Mad Scientist’s Drink

The Mad Scientist’s Drink

Careful! You might turn crazy with how delicious this concoction is. Make sure to complete the look of this drink by using glass stirring rods, beakers and even, test tubes!

This recipe might take some time, but Chemag can assure you that seeing the magic at the end makes all the efforts well worth it.

  • 2 cups of water
  • 6 cups of granulated sugar
  • 2 to 3 drops of food coloring
  • 1/2 to 1 teaspoon flavoring extract or oil
  • 1 cup of apple juice

How to make:

  • Wet and roll your stick or wooden skewer in the granulated sugar for the base layer
  • Set sticks aside
  • Boil 2 cups of water in a sauce pan
  • Gradually add the sugar 1 cup at a time and make sure to stir after each time you add sugar
  • Continue boiling the syrup until all of the sugar has completely dissolved
  • Add the drops of the food coloring and stir well to make sure color is even
  • Allow syrup to cool for 20 to 30 minutes
  • Pour the syrup in jars
  • Lower the sugared stick until there’s 1 inch of space from the bottom
  • Let the jar settle in a cool place with its top lightly covered with a paper towel. This is to allow the sugar to grow.
  • Crystals should start to form within 2-4 hours
  • Once okay with the size, transfer the rock candy to another jar and allow it to dry for 1-2 hours
  • Once dried, place rock candy in cup with apple juice and watch the magic happen

Take note that you don’t have to strictly follow the recipe when it comes to the juice. Explore your creativity with mixing and matching other powdered juices from the Philippines too!

4. Spooky Pond Juice

If you’re looking for more of an adult drink that doesn’t sacrifice on the fun and candies, this one’s definitely for you.

Fun fact: If you’re wondering why this recipe sounds familiar, it’s actually the well-loved Subak-soju that Koreans love!

  • 1 whole watermelon
  • 1 bottle of soju
  • 2 cups of ice cubes
  • Gummy worms

  • Blend until smooth
  • Using a strainer, take out seeds, foam and pulp

  • Pour mixture into watermelon bowl and add ice cubes
